Michigan takes O.C. Doug Nussmeier from Alabama

According to reports from CBSSports.com, ESPN.com and FootballScoop.com, Michigan has a new offensive coordinator. Alabama's Doug Nussmeier will replace Al Borges this year after being wooed by head coach Brady Hoke and will reportedly be one of the highest paid coordinators in college football.

Alabama set records for offensive touchdowns scored (68), total points (542), total offense (6,237) and passing touchdowns (31) in 2012, Nussmeier's first year. Nussmeier was Washington's coordinator before going to Alabama, and his 2011 offense notched 57 touchdowns and 434 points, the second-highest totals in school history. He earned a reputation as one of the country's top offensive minds with the Huskies.

An Oregon native, Nussmeier was also Michigan State's quarterbacks coach for three years earlier in his career, so he has Big Ten ties. He's earned a reputation as one of the nation's top quarterbacks coaches, as well.
