With the likelihood of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh being suspended for the beginning of the 2023 season, panic hasn't set in for the football program itself when the news broke earlier this week.

The on-field leaders of the U-M program are also staying calm to keep things intact as the first week of fall camp is set to begin next week.

Once camp is over, though, Mike Sainristil isn't worried about whether Harbaugh is coaching on the sidelines or not, he's confident the team will go out and compete every week as if Harbaugh is right there with them, making sure the team continues to go out and produce and play the same brand of U-M football.

"It's nothing that we've brought up since the news came out," Sainristil told reporters during Big Ten Media Days. "We just focus on preparing in the weight room, getting ready for camp next week. We know Coach Harbaugh is going to be there at camp coaching. Whether he's there for those first four games or not, I know that he would want us to do is go out there and play a great brand of football and lead on for the block M. Just go out there and play our brand of football, Michigan football, play fast, play hard, play physical. Do what it is that he prepares us to do. Whether he's with those four games or not, we're going to play as if he was right there coaching us."

Whether the news has changed the perception of Harbaugh or even impacted Harbaugh himself, Sainristil cannot say.

All he knows is what he says and that's the same old Jim Harbaugh every day in the U-M facilities.

"I feel like Coach Harbaugh is Coach Harbaugh," Sainristil said. "He is who he is. How you see him is how he is. The only Coach Harbaugh I can speak on is the one I see day-to-day and that's a great coach and a great guy."
