Trey Burke is now a Washington Wizard. The former Utah Jazz All-Rookie performer, a first-round pick (No. 9 overall), and 2013 NCAA Player of the Year was traded Sunday, July 3. Plus, former Wolverine Mitch McGary shines in a summer league game, more in this NBA update.
The Wizards sent a 2021 second round pick to the Jazz for point guard Burke, who had been passed over by several other point guards and didn't play at all down the stretch last year. He averaged 10.6 points, 2.3 assists and 1.8 rebounds per game, but most believed he would be moved this season. Raul Neto was the starter this past season (though Burke played more minutes per game) and Dante Exum is considered the starter once he returns from knee injury that cost him all of last season.
In Orlando summer league play July 2, Mitch McGary scored 13 points and added three rebounds in 25 minutes to help lead Oklahoma City past Dallas. He spent most of last season with the Oklahoma City Blue of the NBDL.
Glenn Robinson III scored 16 points in the Indiana Pacers' 80-70 loss to Charlotte July 3. He also scored 16 and added eight rebounds a day earlier in a blowout win over Orlando in which he notched the nasty dunk below:
Finally, Sam Amick of USA Today reported Sunday that former Wolverine Jamal Crawford and the Los Angeles Clippers agreed to terms on a three-year contract worth $42 million. The 36-year-old veteran was the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year after averaging 14.2 points per game during the regular season.
