The long-awaited kickoff time for the game between the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans was made official on Monday. The 2021 rivalry tilt will be a 12 p.m. ET kickoff from East Lansing and be broadcast via the FOX network's "Big Noon Saturday" coverage.
Michigan still has another test in front of them with Northwestern coming to Ann Arbor on Saturday. It seems everyone is ready to get back to work after a much-needed bye week.
Saturday's tilt between the Wolverines and Wildcats will be a newly-designated trophy game. The two teams will battle for the George Jewett Trophy, which honors the first African-American player in the history of the Big Ten. Jewett was a student-athlete at both Michigan and Northwestern.
In other news, Michigan men's basketball's first AP ranking of the 2021-22 season was revealed on Monday. The Wolverines check in as the No. 6 team in college hoops to start the season.
It was a banner day for hockey, as they rose to the No. 1 ranking after winning the Icebox Tournament in Minnesota over the weekend. That gives Michigan three flagship athletics programs ranked inside the top six in mid-October with football, basketball and hockey.
