Ostell Martin enjoys Michigan visit

Despite the chilly and overcast weather conditions in Ann Arbor, several recruits managed to attend Michigan's spring game Saturday. Detroit Cass Tech 2016 offensive lineman Ostell Martin is used to the cold weather, and raved about his experience in The Big House.

"It was great", Martin said. I got the chance to talk to many coaches and players. I met quarterback Devin Gardner during my last visit to Michigan, and I got the chance to speak to him today. He's definitely my favorite football player at Michigan."

Although he's only a freshman at Cass Tech, Martin is already 6-5, 315-pounds. The exposure that he'll get from playing at Cass Tech - two-time defending state champions in Michigan's largest division - should allow him to pick up plenty of college interest during the process. Martin says playing at Michigan is a possibility for him.

"I love Michigan, and it's great there," he said. "The program is amazing as far as the athletic program goes, as well as the academic program."

Michigan has had history of recruiting Cass Tech linemen, including five-star defensive tackle William Campbell in 2009, and incoming four-star offensive line recruit David Dawson. Martin plays both sides of the ball, but projects himself on the offense - just like Dawson.

"It's an honor to play at Cass Tech, which has produced a lot of players [who ended up playing at] Michigan, including David Dawson," he said. "I want to keep working hard, and maybe I could be an All-American like he was.

"David and I were roommates during football camp, and we weren't really close at first, but now he's like a brother to me."

Three years younger than Dawson, he has a lot to look forward to during his high school career. Down the road, things he could follow in Dawson's footsteps to Ann Arbor. Martin was excited to finally see the Michigan team play in real action - and there's no high school spring practice in the state, so he won't get on the field himself until August.

Naturally, the young offensive lineman highlighted that position group in his observations.

"I think the offensive line is really good," he said, "and No. 77 (Taylor Lewan) is a beast."
