Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro suffered a tough loss to Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton on national television over the weekend.
One of the country’s top high school programs, Saguaro is ready to bounce back in a big way, and Rivals250 Michigan defensive line commit Quintin Somerville said the game will serve as motivation for the rest of the year.
“We’re trying to run the table,” Somerville said. “We’re going to practice hard every day. We’re just upping everything. Our lifts are going to be high energy. We’re just going to attack every day like it matters.”
The highly anticipated matchup gave Somerville an opportunity to compete against another Michigan recruit in Nicco Marchiol. The 2022 quarterback from Hamilton is a key target for the Wolverines next cycle, and Somerville was impressed with his ability.
“Nicco was great,” Somerville said. “He got me down in the end zone when he scored, but I tackled him anyway (laughs). I had to make sure to get him again, but it was just a good battle all night. We gained each other’s respect.”
Before the game, Somerville received a good luck text from Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, which meant a lot to him.
