The first ever Pylon 7v7 All-American Game was a classic.

North Carolina signees Drake Maye and Gavin Blackwell lit up the scoreboard, were named co-MVPs and helped Team Stars take down Team Stripes at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sunday afternoon.

Blackwell, a four-star prospect, scored three touchdowns, while Maye, a Rivals250 prospect, proved to be one of the country’s true elite signal-callers. Both starred for Carolina Stars on the Pylon 7v7 circuit and will team up again for the Tar Heels in the near future.

Aside from Maye and Blackwell, Team Stars saw prospects like USC signee Kyron Hudson-Ware and Boston College signee Xavier Coleman make big plays and get in the end zone to help the offensive explosion.

The Team Stars defense also made plays in crunch time as a top uncommitted recruit Titus Mokiao-Atimalala and BYU signee Payton VanSteenkiste both came away interceptions.

"This was an amazing experience all around,” said Team Stars head coach Marcus Hammond. “From the organization of the event, the hospitality, the quality of players and coaches, and the comraderie and social aspect of having high level players from all over. I didn't know what to expect, but the energy was there. The attention to detail was there.

“All of the guys were taking in the coaching and instruction and were applying it with few practice reps. Leading those guys to a win was huge because no one likes to lose. And to have so many different players making big plays at different points in the game, it just made the experience even better.”

Team Stripes got on the board first as Michigan quarterback signee JJ McCarthy hit Utah pledge Makai Cope for a touchdown. McCarthy would continue to have a big day, completing 15-of-20 passes for four touchdowns.

Unfortunately for Team Stripes, the strong effort was not enough as the aforementioned Blackwell scored late to seal the win.

Overall, the Pylon All-American Experience was a three-day bonanza that saw not only the game but also an elite underclassmen tournament, special musical performances and a pair of live commitments — Rivals100 athlete Quincy McAdoo is off to Florida State, while three-star cornerback Dorian Friend pledged to Houston.
