Report: Hemingway gets his redshirt
Sophomore wide receiver Junior Hemingway has gotten the redshirt he coveted, according to Conway, S.C. Horry Independent. The 6-1 receiver caught a touchdown pass this year in the opener against Utah and played in four games before being sidelined by injuries and mono.
"I plan to go out there and work hard and help the team any way I can," Hemingway said while in Horry County for Christmas holiday break. "I got to play a lot, but I was hurt a lot and that set me back. It was tough. It was a struggle at certain points."
Hemingway played in 10 games and caught four passes for 37 yards as a freshman. He suffered an acromioclavicular (AC) joint sprain in his shoulder but played through it before contracting mono.
He predicts year two will be better for both him and Michigan.
"I think we'll come out with a vengeance," he said. "I expect us to come out with a bang. I think we'll be a good team. It will be our second year in the system and we'll be a lot better."
