Rivals Five-Star QB Chad Henne Commits To U-M
After much speculation West Lawn (Pa.) Wilson quarterback Chad Henne made it official today – he will be a Wolverine. Henne, a five-star recruit according to Rivals100 and the site’s No. 3-ranked quarterback and No. 11-ranked player overall, chose Michigan over Penn State and Miami, though Wilson head coach Jim Cantafio admitted earlier this week that Penn State and Michigan were the final two contenders.
One of the most highly sought quarterbacks in the class of 2004, Henne, a starter since his freshman season for Wilson High, has accumulated 5,900 yards passing through his junior year.

With between 30 and 40 scholarship offers extended to Henne, the college selection process was a tedious one. Overwhelming pressure from the state of Pennsylvania to commit to Penn State had fans of the Nittany Lions in a frenzied panic the past few weeks as word of a pending Michigan commitment leaked.
Both Cantafio and Henne did their best to squash the leaks but on Wednesday the Harrisburg Patriot-News’ Bob Flounders cited a reliable Pennsylvania source claiming, “Chad Henne is Michigan bound.”
Cantafio, who was upset that Flounders had tried to “steal Chad’s thunder” refuted the article in today’s edition of the Digital Collegian.
"That did not come from the Hennes, that did not come from the Cantafios,” Cantafio said of the source for the rumor. “We do not know where it came from. It was nobody here, no parents, no coaches. Nobody made a comment where Chad Henne is going."
TheWolverine.com's Chris Balas and Josh Helmholdt will have more on this story later today as they take the long, but not-as-long-as-it-could-have-been journey back from Pennsylvania.
