It was announced on Thursday that Michigan director of basketball operations Waleed Samaha is leaving the program. Samaha joined head coach John Beilein’s staff In June of 2016, after spending 14 years as the boys high school basketball coach at Huron High School in Ann Arbor, where he posted a 229-86 record.

Samaha handled daily administrative responsibilities at Michigan this past season, and is the third member of Beilein’s staff to have departed since last season ended. Former assistants Jeff Meyer and Billy Donlon left for the same positions at Butler and Northwestern, respectively.

The news of Samaha’s departure comes just hours after it was announced that Beilein had hired Illinois State assistant DeAndre Haynes to fill one of the vacant positions at Michigan.
