The Michigan football team will take on defending national champion Alabama on the opening weekend of the year, and the Wolverines will have new digs for the primetime clash.

The athletic department released photos of the uniforms Monday evening.
Michigan, which will be the away team, will wear whit jerseys with maize shoulders.
The numbers on said jerseys will not have their regular maize border around them, and instead of a nameplate on the back, each player's shoulder blades will be emblazoned with the word, "MICHIGAN."
The Wolverines will wear maize pants, and, according to the picture, the winged helmet will not have players' numbers on the side, which they did for the majority of the 2011 season.
"The players and staff like the commemorative jersey that adidas presented for the Alabama game," Michigan coach Brady Hoke said in a press release. "The players really enjoyed the legacy and bowl uniforms that were worn last season."
Michigan has introduced several one-game uniforms since Hoke took over.
"From time to time, whether it's a regular-season or bowl game, our coaches and players enjoy an opportunity to choose an alternate jersey to wear," Michigan athletics director Dave Brandon said. "The coaches and seniors have worked with adidas to create something special for the season opener in Texas."
According to the athletic department press release, "Michigan may consider designing a special bowl game jersey if the opportunity presents itself. However, a final determination will be made later in the year."
The uniforms worn against Alabama will be the only special ones worn during the regular season.
The Wolverines will wear their traditional blues and traditional whites for all home and away games, respectively.
