Observations
— After rushing for 271 yards against Indiana, Michigan's rushing average jumped 13 spots nationally from 63rd to 50th. Junior running back Karan Higdon accounted for 200 of those yards by himself, becoming the first U-M player to run for 200 yards in a game since Denard Robinson accomplished the feat against Purdue in 2012. Higdon is also the first Wolverine running back to do so since Mike Hart in 2007.
— Michigan's passing yards per game took a major hit after Saturday's game, falling from 75th nationally to 94th; fifth-year senior quarterback John O'Korn threw for just 58 yards against the Hoosiers. Although it may seem much worse this season, U-M's passing game is actually putting up similar numbers to last year's, which finished 85th in the country (212 yards per game).
— After allowing just 278 yards to Indiana, Michigan's defense remained the best in the country in terms of yardage. In fact, its 223.8 yards allowed per game is over 13 yards fewer than the nation's next-best defense (Washington, 236.9).
— Michigan's turnover margin jumped 16 spots nationally from 108th to 92nd (-5 to -3). The Wolverines forced two IU turnovers on Saturday, without committing any of their own. This is a far cry from last year, though, when U-M ended the year with the 24th-best turnover margin in the nation, at +7.
