Castleton announced his commitment to Michigan in a video for The Daytona Beach News-Journal October 4. The 6-11 standout chose the Wolverines over 30-plus offers from other schools.

Castleton told the newspaper he felt at home on an official visit to Ann Arbor over the weekend. He told head coach John Beilein and his staff he wanted to be a part of Michigan’s basketball tradition.

“It’s kind of like DeLand times 15 or 20,” Castleton said. "I liked the feel, the culture and the coaching staff. Coach Beilein doesn’t lie; he’s straightforward. He didn’t promise me any playing time or anything like that, but the players are all great.”

Castleton averaged 23.3 points, 11 rebounds and 5.4 blocks per game as a junior and had a great summer to improve his stock. He said Beilein sees him as a stretch five like current junior Moritz Wagner, able to move centers out of the paint with his shooting ability and also to put it on the floor and score.
