Michigan class of 2017 signee Eli Brooks is now Spring Grove (Penn.) High’s all-time leading scorer. Brooks ended any suspense when he hit a triple on the Rockets’ first possession in a 71-57 win at Warwick.

GametimePa.com reports the game was stopped momentarily so Brooks could take a picture with his parents.

"It feels really good. It was always one of my dreams," Brooks said. “I looked up at the banner and saw the record a few years ago, but my dad made sure I did it the right way. It was nice to have my mom and grandmom be there."

Brooks finished with 25 points and currently has 1,699 in his career. He’s now got his eyes on the 2,000-point mark.

The previous record had been held by Jared Smith (1993). He and Brooks spoke Tuesday.

“He knows my dad and my grandpa and he was really nice about it," Brooks said. "He said it was good for Spring Grove … he knew someone was going to break it and he was glad it was me."

Brooks is averaging 25 points per game for 5-2 Spring Grove.
