Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has been named one of 16 semifinalists for the 2016 George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year Award.
Three other Big Ten coaches are also semifinalists: Ohio State’s Urban Meyer, Wisconsin’s Paul Chryst and Penn State’s James Franklin.
Harbaugh has the Wolverines at 9-1, No. 3 in the College Football Playoff. Overall, the former U-M quarterback is 19-4 at the Michigan helm, 12-3 in Big Ten play. If the Wolverines beat Indiana tomorrow, he’ll become the second fastest among all Michigan head coaches to reach 20 wins, behind only Fielding H. Yost.
The Wolverines are in the top six in the nation in scoring offense and defense, and lead the nation in a host of defensive categories.
The Maxwell Football Club presents the Munger Award. The candidate list will be pared to three finalists on Dec. 12.
