2018 Projection

Hutchinson likely won't be field ready to see the field as a freshman in 2018, but after a redshirt season and more time to grow and develop physically, he might be called upon to break into the two-deep in 2019. Beyond that, he should grow into a big-time end who could contribute as much as his father did.

They Said It

Ann Arbor Father Gabriel Richard head coach Brian Lewis, whose Fighting Irish squad fell to Divine Child, 21-10, in 2017: “He definitely passes the eye test. When he gets off of that bus, you’re looking at a tall, well-built kid. He’s got a great frame and is an above-average athlete. It’s probably not a good idea to go his way a lot. At the end of the game last year, we ran a toss sweep and Aidan shed the tight end blocking him, ran down the running back and kind of ended the game for us. That was a big play for him and his team.

“His lateral movement is pretty good and he’s just a long kid, so you try not to go at him much."

Divine Child head coach John Filiatraut: "His improvement has been significant since I’ve known him. You would expect that from a big, strong kid that’s focused and works really hard. You would expect him to get a lot better and he definitely has. Not only has his game grown performance wise, but he has grown as well — he’s a big guy now. I’m a pretty big guy myself and I stick out a little bit because I’m tall, but not when I’m next to him. Aidan really works his butt off to be a great player and it’s showing.

"I think Michigan got a great one in him. He’s a special player."
