Newsstand: Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy Reaches Out To 5-Star Domani Jackson

While a recruit, Michigan freshman quarterback J.J. McCarthy was known for helping convince other prospects to join him in Ann Arbor. He's certainly busy, with his team set to open the season against Western Michigan tomorrow, but he took some time out of his day to reach out to five-star USC defensive back commit Domani Jackson, who will take an official visit to Michigan Sept. 11.

Five-star Michigan defensive back commit Will Johnson approved of McCarthy's message.

ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky will call Michigan's game on Saturday, and he put out a clip on Twitter breaking down why he's a big fan of junior wide receiver Ronnie Bell and sophomore wideout Cornelius Johnson.

As is tradition under head coach Jim Harbaugh, Michigan football did not release a depth chart this week. Western Michigan is participating in some gamesmanship.

The Wolverines' Twitter account released a practice photo, showing redshirt junior offensive lineman Chuck Filiaga in at right guard with what appeared to be the starters. Filiaga has long been competing for the left guard spot. Omitted from the photo was second-year freshman Zak Zinter, who is the presumed starter at right guard.
