Black's career has been plagued with injury. After the first three games of his freshman season, he was the team's leading receiver with 153 yards and a touchdown, before suffering a foot injury that held him out the rest of the year.
In his sophomore year, Black suffered another foot injury in preseason camp. He returned to the field later in the season, appearing in six games. He caught four passes for 35 yards on the year.
Black was a contributor to U-M's passing game this season, recording 25 receptions for 323 yards and one touchdown.
In his career at U-M, Black appeared in 20 games, with nine starts. He totaled 40 receptions for 507 yards and two touchdowns. The junior wide receiver could have two years left of eligibility, if he petitions for a medical redshirt from his freshman season. If he graduates before departing U-M, he would be immediately eligible to play elsewhere.
Black joins tight end Mustapha Muhammad, safety J'Marick Woods and linebacker Jordan Anthony as U-M players to enter the transfer portal since the beginning of the 2019 season.
